What to bring?

Anything from Nourishing Traditions or the Healthy 4 Life booklet is wonderful.  A simple homemade meal made from scratch using natural fats would be a great contribution.

Some examples include: a roasted chicken or other meat, meat and vegetable casserole, a dish made with soaked grains, soup using homemade bone broth, pastured egg quiche or other egg dish, organic salad with homemade dressing, steamed or roasted vegetables with butter or cream sauce, fermented vegetables, fresh or cooked fruit with raw whipped cream.

Bring enough to share with everyone and be sure to include some traditional fats!

We’d also like to encourage you to bring your own plate and utensils to help us reduce the use of disposables.  Thanks!

Demos:

DSC01051We will have two short demos.  I will be presenting a demo on kombucha, and a guest presenter will do a demo on Jun.  Jun is similar to kombucha but is made with green tea and honey instead of black tea and sugar.  We will discuss the differences and similarities between the two beverages.

We will have SCOBY starters for both drinks available for a donation of any amount to the Weston A. Price Foundation!  Please bring your own jar to take one home.

PS: Sorry for the delay in getting this out to you.  I’ve been having technical difficulties.

REMINDER: Potluck tomorrow, March 20th!

Hi all,

Just a quick reminder that our March potluck and food demo is tomorrow!

We haven’t held a potluck in a few month, and I hope everyone will take advantage of this opportunity to get together, enjoy some great food and wonderful conversation.

Potluck & Food Demo:

Date & Time:

Monday, March 20, 2017  POTLUCK
6:00 to 8:00 PM

Location:

Home of Marvy & Howard
2880 Blacktail Drive, Eugene, OR 97405
Phone: 541-515-6591

They have a shoes-off house, but have slippers to provide.  Please bring your own clean slippers if you prefer.

Demo:

Marvy has offered to do our demo: “I can do a food demo of making fried cauliflower rice and perhaps will serve fried trout, which I have caught last year.  They are simple dishes that take but 15 minutes from start to finish as I can do them simultaneously.  I have a teaching kitchen, so am amply equipped with an area fit for 20-30 people easily.”

Note: Although properly prepared grains are part of the Wise Traditions diet, there are usually at least a few gluten-free or paleo options available.

If you can’t make it to this event, consider hosting our next one!  It is a great way to ensure that the potluck happens on a day you can attend… and you don’t even have to drive anywhere!

Please contact our potluck coordinator, Megan radzillameg@gmail.com to arrange a day and time that works for you.

Sorry this reminder comes so close to the event.  I intended to send out a reminder last week, but have WAY too much stuff on my to-do list.  If you would like to help the chapter by making sure reminders go out in a timely manner, let me know.  I’ll walk you through it.

See you soon!

Lisa
