Keto

“We never say that you have to include grains or carbs, only that you may if they are prepared properly.  Everyone has to work out the macro-nutrient balances for themselves.”

~ Sally Fallon Morell

In September 2018, we began holding monthly Keto Support Group meetings in Eugene, Oregon.  This is a whole-food approach, applying Wise Traditions principles to the ketogenic diet.

One can follow a Wise Traditions diet and not be keto or follow a ketogenic diet and not also follow Wise Traditions principles.  This group is for people who want to combine the two.

Start by reading: How to Start Wise Traditions Keto

Keto:

A ketogenic diet (or keto for short) is any diet that puts one into a state of nutritional ketosis, where the body is burning fat for fuel rather than glucose.  For information why this is important see:

Wise Traditions:

The Wise Traditions diet emphasizes fat-soluable vitamins, found in grass-fed and pasture-raised animal foods, the proper preparation of grains, nuts, seeds and legumes, unprocessed raw milk from grass-fed animals, and fruits and vegetables grown in mineral-rich soil. For more information about Wise Traditions principles see:

You may notice (as I did) that the foods traditional cultured valued most for health and reproduction were foods that precisely fit within a ketogenic diet.
