Cell Towers in our Residential Areas-Eugene City

This comes to us from a local Eugene Chapter member:

The Eugene City Council will be addressing the subject of cell towers in our residential areas-at a work session when they return from summer vacation in September.  City ordinances on cell towers in Eugene have not been up-dated since 1996. Areas are trying to pass more protective ordinances as cell tower placement has become more aggressive. LLC Buy-Out Companies are willing to pay $$$ for these tower contracts.

Lane County requires that there be a 1200 ft. distance between cell towers and our homes. It has been suggested that this distance should also be used in the city.  We need as few of these towers as possible, with the lowest of emitting EMF microwave radiation, located in the safest of places.

Please consider emailing your local council member and also attending the Eugene City Council work session in September and expressing your opinion about cell towers in our neighborhoods and near our schools.

PS The first DVD that I saw about cell towers was at a Weston Price event.

Local Cell Phone Towers

This comes to us from one of our local Eugene Chapter members.  While it does not pertain to food, I am including it because it does effect our health.  The Eugene Chapter has rented the CrossFire Church on several occasions to hold cooking classes.  Please contact the Church and let them know if you would still be interested in attending a cooking class right underneath a cell phone tower!

Hi Lisa,

Cross Fire Ministeries at 4060 W. Amazon is trying to put up an 8-story cell tower on the property! It’s right in the middle of our neighborhood- next to a day-care center, a school, a senior facility and across from Amazon Trail. The Register Guard ran an article about it last August 2013.

Even though 3rd party, unregulated, LLC companies will pay much for these contracts once they are signed (according to internet information), we are trying to make Rev. Taylor (the pastor) understand that the value for this property will decrease if he sells it. This property has changed hands many times. There is also a large tower proposed for Rest Haven Memorial Park. The neighbors have hired an attorney to see what their rights are. There are towers proposed for various areas of Eugene. Becky Taylor #541-682-5437 is the person to check with at the Eugene planning board.

The local Eugene group FamiliesForSafeMeters.net did a great job getting an Opt-In on the smart meters. There is a multi-award winning documentary called Take Back Your Power. Other dvds are are Public Disclosure: DNA, Democracy and the Wireless Revolution, and Resonance Beings of Frequency.

Thank you for getting awareness out about the GMO’s. I have a feeling that things are really going to change for the better very soon.

Cindy

The Eugene Chapter has shown a DVD on the topic of EMFs (Electrosmog and Electrosensitivity: What You Need to Know to Protect Yourself, Your Family, and Your Community) and there have been several speakers at The Wise Traditions Conference on this important topic.

July 22nd: DVD "Electrosmog and Electrosensitivity"

Electrosmog and Electrosensitivity: What You Need to Know to Protect Yourself, Your Family, and Your Community
by Magda Havas, PhD
A Presentation from Wise Traditions 2010, 11th Annual Conference

Friday, July 22nd, 2011
DVD begins promptly at 6:30 PM
Please come a few minutes early.

Location:
Market of Choice
67 West 29th, Eugene
Upstairs in the Community Room

Please join us for this fascinating presentation.  Dr. Havas discusses a wide variety of health effects of “Dirty Electricity”, EMFs and other electrical pollution.  She also discusses what can be done to clean up your electrical power and personal environment.  I think you will be amazed (I was)!

Magda Havas, PhD: Electrosmog and Electrosensitivity: What You Need to Know to Protect Yourself, Your Family, and Your Community Our exposure to radiation is increasing with our use of mobile phones, wireless routers, smart meters, baby monitors and even energy efficient compact fluorescent light bulbs.  A growing population is becoming ill.  They have difficulty sleeping, are tired, have body aches and pains, have difficulty concentrating and remembering and feel depressed or anxious or irritable for no obvious reason.  In this session you will learn how to determine if you are electrically sensitive, what products generate electrosmog, and what you can do to reduce your exposure and improve your health.  If you feel as though you are “aging too rapidly” and want to “turn back the clock”  you may want to attend this session.

Magda Havas, PhD is Associate Professor of Environmental & Resource Studies at Trent University where she teaches and does research on the biological effects of environmental contaminants. Dr. Havas received her Ph.D. from the University of Toronto, completed Post-Doctoral research at Cornell University, and taught at the University of Toronto before going to Trent University in Peterborough, Canada.

Her current research is concerned with the biological effects of electromagnetic pollution including radio frequency radiation, electromagnetic fields, dirty electricity, and ground current. She works with diabetics as well as with individuals who have multiple sclerosis, tinnitus, chronic fatigue, fibromyalgia and those who are electrically hypersensitive. Her latest research links microwave radiation from wireless phones to heart irregularities such as arrhythmia (irregular beats of the heart) and tachycardia (rapid heart rate). She also conducts research on sick building syndrome as it relates to dirty electricity in schools. She helped draft Resolution 15 that was passed by the International Association of Firefighters in August 2004 in Boston. She also helped draft a Private Member’s Bill on Ground Current Pollution, the contents of which have been adopted by the Ontario Energy Board. She has given talks in more than a dozen countries on her research. Dr. Havas has co-edited three books and has published more than 100 articles. Her most recent book, co-authored with Camilla Rees, is Public Health SOS: The Shadow Side of the Wireless Revolution. She is the author and designer of the BRAG™ Antenna Ranking of School Study released April 2010.

Dr. Havas served as an expert witness in matters dealing with electrical pollution in both Canada and the United States and has been an advisor to several public and educational groups concerned with the health of the environment. She serves on the Scientific Secretariat for the International Commission for Electromagnetic Safety and serves as science advisor on EMF-related issues to non-profit organizations in Canada, United States, United Kingdom and the Netherlands.
