August 2018: From the Editor

Hi all,

There are two Eugene Chapter events coming up in August.  Below I share some photos of the Mother Earth News Fair that took place in Albany, and information about the upcoming Wise Traditions Conference in November!

August 14: Potluck & Pickled Veggie Demo

Tuesday, August 14th, 2018

6:00 PM

Potluck & Pickled Vegetable Demo

Have you ever wanted to make pickled asparagus, pickled cauliflower, green beans, cucumbers, carrots or other naturally fermented pickled vegetables?  Come join us for a short demo on making pickled veggies.

Location:

Natural Grocers
201 Coburg Road
Eugene, OR 97401
www.naturalgrocers.com/store-location/eugene

What to bring?

Anything from Nourishing Traditions, the Healthy 4 Life booklet or Recipes of the Week would be wonderful.  A simple homemade meal made from scratch using natural fats is always a great contribution.

Some examples include: a roasted chicken or other meat, meat and vegetable casserole, a dish made with soaked grains, soup using homemade bone broth, pastured egg quiche or other egg dish, organic salad with homemade dressing, steamed or roasted vegetables with butter or cream sauce, fermented vegetables, fresh or cooked fruit with raw whipped cream.  If you come to the potlucks regularly, please try to bring a dish from a different category every so often.

Bring enough to share with everyone and be sure to include some traditional fats!

Children and guests welcome.  Please bring serving utensils for your dish.  Thanks!

August 24: DVD – Nourishing Our Children

Nourishing Our Children

by Sandrine Hann

DVD begins at 6:30 PM
Please come around 6:15

Location:

Natural Grocers

Eugene, OR 97401

Nourishing Our Children is a beautifully produced introduction to the work of Weston A. Price and the nutritional principles presented in Nourishing Traditions. Although it is aimed at parents who are still feeding young children, the information is important for everyone. You do not need to be a parent to come.

Sandrine Hann previously worked as a family therapist, art therapist, teacher, and as an educational therapist in private practice before she established Nourishing Our Children in 2005. Convinced that the children she worked with were well-fed but malnourished, Sandrine closed her private practice to devote herself to the cause of educating and inspiring parents to return to the whole, natural foods that have produced generation after generation of healthy children.

Cost: Free (Donations requested)

Donations of any amounts to the Eugene Chapter, Weston A. Price Foundation are appreciated.
$5-10 suggested for those who can afford it, and $1-4 for low-income.
(Please also volunteer to help the Eugene Chapter).

Mother Earth News Fair in Albany

At the last minute I agreed to help staff a booth at the Mother Earth News Fair in Albany, OR (August 4-5, 2018).  I visited with a few Eugene area people (thanks for stopping by the booth to say hi!), met lots of new people from around Oregon and Washington, and I talked with vendors.

There were some pretty cool vendors there.  I would have liked to have purchased many of the products.
