July 2014: From the Editor

Hi all,

First of all I’d like to tell you about a special event going on this month.

Tuesday, July 15th – History of Fermented Cod Liver Oil:

Dave Wetzel, co-founder of Green Pasture Products will be making a special stop in Eugene to give us a presentation on the History of Fermented Cod Liver Oil!

Date: Tuesday, July 15th, 2014
Time: 8:00 PM
Location: Market of Choice
Upstairs in the Community Room

Green Pasture Products produces traditionally prepared High-Vitamin Butter Oil and Fermented Cod Liver Oil,  two foods that Dr. Weston Price found to be so important to health.  The talk will include a discussion on the traditional preparation of cod liver oil and the change to the modern refined product that we find today.

There will also be tastings available and time to ask all your questions.  And if you order products at the presentation they are offering FREE shipping!

This is probably a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to hear him speak in Eugene.  Don’t miss it!

Monday, July 7th – Potluck & Food Demo: This month’s topic is Summer Drinks

We have moved the Solar Cooking topic to our August potluck.  This month we will be discussing refreshing summer drinks, that unlike the modern sugary sodas, provide nutrition as well as quench thirst.  We will discuss and have samples for a few of these wonderful drinks:

Kombucha, Ginger Ale, Punch, Yogurt Lassi, Milk Kefir, Water Kefir, Herbal Teas, Beet Kvass, and more.

Friday, July 25th – The Popcorn Review DVD Showing: Transitioning Your Family to Nutrient-Dense Foods Quickly and Practically in a Manner that Won’t Break the Budget

Sarah Pope shares a simple, three step plan that she has used for over 10 years in her local community as a Nutrition Educator for quickly transitioning the entire household (even picky eaters) to the most important nutrient dense foods with no complaining!  This is a great presentation for people who are new to this way of eating!
