Local Member Directory and WAPFEugene

I would like to continue to encourage everyone to check out, and consider listing yourselves in the Local Member Directory (see Local Member Directory below). It is now it is open to any local members who have a product or service to offer other local people.

I would also like to remind everyone that the Eugene Chapter, WAPF has a list on Yahoo Groups, called WAPFEugene. This is a place for local people who are interested in the principals of the Weston A. Price Foundation to communicate with each other.

To join go to: http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/WAPFEugene/ Select “Join This Group” and follow the instructions.

Weston A. Price Foundation Website

As many of you know, the Weston A. Price Foundation launched a newly designed website recently (www.westonaprice.org). It looks nice, but ever since then we have had trouble with old links not working. The search engine at the site also makes it difficult to find specific articles. Old links were supposed to automatically forward to new locations, but this hasn’t turned out as planned (Error 404). I have tried to update many of the links in this newsletter, but I know I have not fixed all of them yet. It is very frustrating, but I have it on good authority that they are working on the problem. If you are looking for some really great articles I suggest searching the Health Topics page as a starting point. Thank you for your patience.

Chicken Feed

Our local WAPF chapter is interested in making a group purchase early in August of Soy Free BROILER feed from Union Point Feed in Brownsville. It is not organic but is GMO-free, fresh ground WHOLE grains (w/fish meal, kelp, etc.) and local. The cost is estimated to be about $20. per 50lb bag of feed. We have to have a minimum of 1000lbs ordered. So far in our group we have 400 lbs spoken for.

Note: Broiler feed should not be fed to layers as the protein is too high and the calcium is too low. (If you are interested in a similar group buy for Layer Feed please email Julia. Again it will be 1000lb minimum for a group buy price estimate the same).

If you or anyone you know is interested in this group buy please contact Julia our food co-op organizer.

Blueberry Picking

My son and I will be going blueberry picking at McKenzie River Farm, in Leaburg, once or twice this month. They have biodynamic u-pick and picked blueberries, and other farm produce. We will be leaving South Eugene around 4:15 PM (date to be determined). If you would like to ride out with us, let me know.

Teacher Dogs

There is now a tribute to my beloved dog Ashke at the AuNaturalK9s Teacher Dog page (scroll down). Read the beautiful, inspiring and touching tributes to other Teacher Dogs at this site. Be asured, I will let you all know when my next perfect dog comes into my life. Until then continue to keep your eyes open in your travels around Oregon. When you see any puppies or young dogs looking for their new home please email me..
