October 2018: From the Editor

Hi all,

We are still looking for a replacement Potluck Coordinator.

Please don’t make me do this all by myself.

We need someone willing to:

  • Arrange speakers or demos for each potluck (we have suggestions for you to contact)

Also we are looking for volunteers who can do some of these tasks:

  • Bring reusable dishes to each potluck, wash and repeat (we provide dishes)
  • Make fliers for Potlucks and DVDs (we have a template)
  • Post fliers around town to promote events
  • Assistant Newsletter Editor (who can make sure things go out in a timely manner when I am not able to)
  • Help staff the booth at Fun with Fermentation
  • Carry materials to and from events
  • Help with set up and clean up
  • Post information to Facebook

If you’d like to help your local Weston A Price Foundation chapter please choose something that you can reliably do and let us know what it is. If you would like more information, just let me know. I would be happy to meet with any potential volunteers to discuss what you have to offer and how we can use your skills and energy.

See Get Involved! for more examples!

Topic:

In honor of Indigenous Peoples Day, we would like to invite you to share something about food from either your own heritage or that of traditional North American cuisine.  Please share a dish or story from your family, ethnic background or traditional food wisdom.

What to bring?

Anything from Nourishing Traditions, the Healthy 4 Life booklet or Recipes of the Week would be wonderful.  A simple homemade meal made from scratch using natural fats is always a great contribution.

Some examples include: a roasted chicken or other meat, meat and vegetable casserole, a dish made with soaked grains, soup using homemade bone broth, pastured egg quiche or other egg dish, organic salad with homemade dressing, steamed or roasted vegetables with butter or cream sauce, fermented vegetables, fresh or cooked fruit with raw whipped cream.  If you come to the potlucks regularly, please try to bring a dish from a different category every so often.

Bring enough to share with everyone and be sure to include some traditional fats!

Children and guests welcome.  Please bring serving utensils for your dish.  Thanks!

This is not a WAPF event, we are sharing the information here as a service to our members who may be interested.  You can attend the 10-5 PM event before our potluck on the same day!
