Help stop meningococcal vaccine mandates

The Oregon Legislature may soon be considering a bill, H.B. 4157, which would require meningococcal conjugate vaccines for students 11 years of age or older; and Serogroup B meningococcal vaccines for students 10 years of age or older.

Please help us STOP this bill by contacting your Oregon representative today! Let your legislator know vaccines are a medical decision that carries risk and should be left up to the individual, not mandated.

Contact your district Oregon representative and ask him/her to OPPOSE H.B. 4157. You can look up who represents you at: https://www.oregonlegislature.gov/FindYourLegislator/leg-districts.html

“Hi, my name is ____ and I am a constituent. I am calling to ask Representative ____ to OPPOSE H.B. 4157, which would mandate meningitis vaccines for 10 and 11 year-old school children.

Vaccine mandates are contrary to the concept of informed consent for medical procedures.

According to the CDC’s website, meningitis vaccines can cause serious allergic reactions and injury, including death. In addition, the CDC acknowledges that they have limited data on the efficacy of these vaccines and that meningococcal disease is at a historic low in the U.S.

Tell Congress to support local meat production

This comes to us from the Weston A. Price Foundation. If you haven’t yet called or written, there is still time.

Last November, we asked you to contact your Congressional representative to urge passage of the PRIME Act, which would make it easier for small-scale livestock producers to sell meat to local consumers. Since that alert, several more legislators have signed on as co-sponsors! Now, the best chance for getting that bill passed is to attach it to the Farm Bill – and we need your help to get even more co-sponsors to make that happen.

A few specific tasks that are still under-supported are:

• Backup Newsletter Editor (who can make sure things go out in a timely manner when I am not able to)
• Host a food workshop at your home
• Carry materials to and from events
• Help with set up and clean up at events
• Make sure we have a meat dish at each potluck
• Post fliers around town to promote our events

If you would like more information, just let me know. I would be happy to meet with any potential volunteers to discuss what you have to offer and how we can use your skills and energy.
