Help stop meningococcal vaccine mandates

This comes to us from the Weston A. Price Foundation.  You can find your Representative here:

Please call him or her.  It only takes a couple minutes.

ACTION ALERT

Help stop meningococcal vaccine mandates

The Oregon Legislature may soon be considering a bill, H.B. 4157, which would require meningococcal conjugate vaccines for students 11 years of age or older; and Serogroup B meningococcal vaccines for students 10 years of age or older.

Please help us STOP this bill by contacting your Oregon representative today! Let your legislator know vaccines are a medical decision that carries risk and should be left up to the individual, not mandated.

Talking points, which explain more about the problems with H.B. 4157, are below the Take Action section.

View H.B. 4157 here: https://olis.leg.state.or.us/liz/2018R1/Measures/Overview/HB4157

TAKE ACTION

Contact your district Oregon representative and ask him/her to OPPOSE H.B. 4157. You can look up who represents you at: https://www.oregonlegislature.gov/FindYourLegislator/leg-districts.html

Calls are more effective than emails, and only take a few minutes.

Sample script:

“Hi, my name is ____ and I am a constituent. I am calling to ask Representative ____ to OPPOSE H.B. 4157, which would mandate meningitis vaccines for 10 and 11 year-old school children.

Vaccine mandates are contrary to the concept of informed consent for medical procedures.

According to the CDC’s website, meningitis vaccines can cause serious allergic reactions and injury, including death. In addition, the CDC acknowledges that they have limited data on the efficacy of these vaccines and that meningococcal disease is at a historic low in the U.S.

I urge Representative _____ to oppose H.B. 4157.”

If you send an email, be sure to personalize it. You may wish to use a couple of the talking points below. Don’t copy all of them – just use them as ideas to help structure your own message.

TALKING POINTS for calls and emails:

  • The CDC’s website warns that more than half of all people who get serogroup B meningococcal vaccine have the following reactions to vaccination (soreness, redness, swelling, tiredness or fatigue, headache, muscle or joint pain, fever or chills, nausea or diarrhea.) No parent should be forced to risk the health of their children simply to attend school https://www.cdc.gov/vaccines/hcp/vis/vis-statements/mening-serogroup.html

  • Parents should have the right to refuse a medical procedure for their children that is known to result in injuries, including Guillain-Barré Syndrome, SIRVA, chronic inflammatory demyelinating polyneuropathy, rheumatoid arthritis, Bell’s Palsy, brachial neuritis, carpal tunnel syndrome, and even death.

  • Meningococcal vaccines have been fast tracked, without completing thorough testing and thorough analysis. Mandating use of these vaccines is irresponsible.

  • The US Supreme Court recognizes vaccines to be “unavoidably unsafe” and to cause injury and death in some recipients.   In just the first four months of 2017, the government paid over $182 million to people harmed by vaccines they received. Since 1989, over $3.6 billion has been paid out in vaccine injury compensation.
