Hummingbird Wholesale:
If you are not familiar with Hummingbird Wholesale, let me introduce you.  Hummingbird is a bulk food distributor offering organic, local and regional food crops to over 500 wholesale customers from Seattle to San Francisco.  Their products are carried in many of our local natural food stores, and they are open to the public on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10 AM to 2 PM.  The more you buy the greater your discount.  I believe they also give discounts to seniors and people who come in using alternative forms of transportation.

Connection to The Eugene Chapter, Weston A. Price Foundation:
Hummingbird is owned by Julie and Charlie Tilt, and some of you may remember that Julie started the Eugene Chapter as our first Chapter Leader in 1999!  She was instrumental in getting Sally Fallon to stop by Eugene in 2001, and give one of the first presentations of The Oiling Of America.

January 20th: DVD – The Oiling of America

The Oiling of America: How the Vegetable Oil Industry Demonized Nutritious Animal Fats and Destroyed the American Food Supply
by Sally Fallon Morell

Friday, January 20th, 2012
DVD begins at 6:30 PM
Please come early.

Location:
Market of Choice
67 West 29th, Eugene
Upstairs in the Community Room

In our Vital Fats class last fall we gave a summery of Sally Fallon Morell’s “The Oiling of America”.   If you missed the class, or would like to get more of the story, please come to this event.  This DVD is a great introduction to how doctors, the media and “the diet dictocracts” got hoodwinked into doing the vegetable oil industry’s bidding, and why we, in the Weston Price Foundation, don’t fear animal fats.   Bring guests.  Bring your friends or family members who look at you funny when you say that butter doesn’t cause heart disease.  Or better yet, bring your doctor!

Margarine is the bad guy and butter and eggs are the good guys

For fifty years, big business, government agencies and medical organizations have campaigned deceptively against animal fats, meat, eggs, butter and other nutritious, traditional foods, leading to huge profits from the sale of toxic margarine, shortenings and liquid vegetable oils, and the foods that contain them. Scientific data contradicting current anti-animal fat public health policy was suppressed and censored for many years. Dr. Enig and Sally Fallon now tell you the truth about how that happened.

The Oiling of America will open your eyes to fraud and deception behind the lipid hypothesis of heart disease. Topics include:

    * How scientists cheat in scientific studies
    * Why cholesterol is not the cause of heart disease
    * The dangers of cholesterol-lowering diets and drugs
    * Why trans fatty acids and liquid vegetable oils are so dangerous to human health
