“When scientist Arpad Pusztai reported that genetically modified (GM) foods caused serious health problems in rats, he was a hero at his prestigious UK institute — for two days. But after two phone calls (apparently) from the Prime Minister’s office, he was fired, gagged, and mercilessly attacked. When UC Berkely professor Ignacio Chapela discovered GM corn contamination in Mexico, he too faced a firestorm of distortion and denial that left him struggling to salvage his career. Find out how the biotech industry “engineers” the truth and what they are trying to hide from you.”

Directions:
From Eugene, take I-5 South to the Creswell exit. Turn left at the light and go back over the freeway. Take the first left (towards Ray’s Food Place), then take the first right (before Ray’s) onto Melton Rd. Creswell Coffee Co. is on the left next to Bi-Mart.

Live Music after the DVD!

If you are coming to the DVD showing at 3:00, why not stay until 7:00 and listen to live music, performed by our very own local Eugene Chapter member, Mark Hurwit!

Here’s a message from Mark:

Friends,

As many of you may know, I’m in a kind of jazz/rock/funk band called Kokobola.
Because of the size of the group, and the kind of music we do (instrumental only),
there are not a lot of places around for us to play (well, and because this is lil ol’
Eugene). But the music, mostly originals, is good, and I’ve stayed with it for that
reason. I think you’d like it, and I’m inviting you to come out for a fun night at
the Creswell Coffee Company, next Saturday, December 10 (info/directions here).

This may or may not be enough notice for you, but I hope you can come. It’s only
10 minutes down I-5, and the food there is good. We’ll be playing two sets, starting
at 7 pm. — If you’d like to hear what the band sounds like before committing to an
evening out, check our web page here: http://www.ReverbNation.com/Kokobola
There are cuts from a studio demo we made, as well as video clips from a gig we
did at the Jazz Station.

If you can’t make it down, I hope you’re having (or going to have) a great holiday/ New Year season.

Mark
