About Yaakov Levine:
Born and raised in the New York area, Yaakov has made his home in Oregon since 1998. He brings his passion for healthy nutrition and herbal medicine to his practice as a Nutritional Therapist. Growing up in a home with a semi-invalid father who suffered from degenerative cardiovascular disease, Yaakov has been on a life-long journey towards his own optimal health. He has attended WAPF’s Wise Traditions conferences and is a Chapter Leader/Resource person for the Creswell/Cottage Grove area. As a former dairy farmer, Yaakov has a strong connection to where our food comes from and supports the local farming community. As a grassroots activist he is involved in promoting legislation towards a safe and secure food system, a Food Bill of Rights for Lane County.
Yaakov is an avid researcher and writer. He has a healthy lifestyle column in the weekly Springfield Times and Creswell Chronicle. He also writes for the quarterly Take Root – Willamette Valley and the Price-Pottenger Nutritional Foundation’s Journal and blog. Yaakov has been published in The Well Being Journal and in the Nutritional Therapist Newsletter.
As a Nutritional Therapist, Yaakov uses his knowledge, listening skills and a variety of assessment tools to support his clients’ goals of optimum health. As a cancer survivor, he brings empathy and insights to his work with his clients as they address their health challenges.
His approach as a nutritionist is foundational, supporting his client’s basic nutritional needs. The foundational pillars are: a nutrient dense diet with healthy digestion, blood sugar balance, fatty acid balance, mineral balance and proper hydration. Using food journals and a comprehensive questionnaire Yaakov works with his clients to assess where they can best be supported nutritionally. He is available to teach his clients/students how to make fermented foods, broths and other important food preparation skills that will contribute to their improved health.
In 2007 he received his certification as a Nutritional Therapy Practitioner from the Nutritional Therapy Association. Yaakov is currently practicing as a Health Coach at Natural Grocers in Eugene.
