December 2017: From The Editor

Hi all,

We have events coming up!  I’ve written out many events dates in 2018, so read everything then take a moment to mark your calendars.

Steering Committee Meeting:

In January we will hold an informal “Steering Committee” Meeting.

(Look for information about the date as soon as we confirm room availability).

Let us know how you would like to be involved!

This meeting is for people who would like to contribute a little time and energy to helping  the Eugene Chapter run smoothly in 2018.  We will discuss what events the Chapter will undertake in the new year and who will make these things happen.

If you appreciate the work that the Weston A. Price Foundation does, please consider volunteering.  We have room for all types of skills and involvement level.  Just find a place where your own unique skills and interests can contribute to this wonderful community of traditional-foods enthusiasts.

I would like to thank a few of our wonderful volunteers who helped in 2017:

  • Megan, who has been the potluck coordinator for the last couple of years (She is ready to turn this job over to a new person – could this be you?).
  • Rouanna, who has been showing the DVDs each month and helped staff our booth at Fun with Fermentation.
  • Janice, who set up the Eugene Chapter QuickBooks account this year and handled all of our financial data.
  • Mary, who recently volunteered to schedule the room at Natural Grocers for our DVD showings and Potlucks, and post events to Eugene Weekly.
  • Sarah, who recently began work on a Facebook page for our chapter.
  • We need you too!  See Get Involved! for ideas.

Thank you everyone!  I couldn’t do it all without you!

Important Information from The Weston A. Price Foundation:

Good News About the Soy Health Claim: NOW WE NEED YOUR HELP!

I have some very good news to report: In response to our 2008 petition, the FDA has proposed to revoke the heart health claim for soy protein!

But there is still work to do. We now need to flood the FDA with comments in support of this measure.

ACTION ALERT: Oppose Alex Azar for Secretary of Health and Human Services!

If confirmed, Azar would head HHS, also known as the Health Department, charged with the goal of protecting the health of all Americans and providing essential services.

As general council for HHS, Azar participated in the Autism Omnibus Proceedings that denied more than 5,000 claims of vaccine injury to devastated families.

Later, as president of pharmaceutical company Eli Lilly’s USA division for almost a decade, Azar exploited drug pricing. For example, Eli Lilly’s insulin product, Humulin R U-500, rose 325 percent in price from 2010 to 2015.

Azar’s career also includes a position as board member of the Biotechnology Innovation Association, a trade association that lobbies for manufacturers of biotech products including vaccines and GMOs.

We must fight against this nomination. Please take a moment to let your voice be heard!

Vaccine Mandates

If the state can tag, track down and force citizens against their will to be injected with biologicals of known and unknown toxicity today, there will be no limit on which individual freedoms the state can take away in the name of the greater good tomorrow.
