June 2014: From the Editor

Hi all,

As usual we have great events coming up, and a few messages to share with you.

The Popcorn Review:

First of all I would like to let you all know about some changes that will be taking place.  I personally have been showing our monthly DVD for nearly 7 years!  I have decided that I need a break.  Now, I COULD just stop doing them, but that would be a shame since we have so many great DVDs.  So what I would like to do is to enlist help from all of you.  If you would like to see the DVDs continue, please volunteer to be my backup person for the evening.  This essentially means you need to go to the Market of Choice and put a DVD in the machine.

Please volunteer now for the upcoming DVD showings:

  • July 25
  • August 22 or 29 (date to be confirmed)
  • September 19 or 26 (date to be confirmed)

Choose a date and volunteer now. Email Lisa.

Potluck & Food Demo: This month’s topic is Organ Meats

You know, you meant well when you bought that side of beef and asked for all the organs… but now you have a freezer full of parts that you haven’t the slightest idea what to do with!  Come learn some great ideas how to prepare organ meats.

We will be making a wonderful recipe from our Variety Meats Class, called “Beef Heart & Watermelon Salad”.  It was voted favorite dish by several of the class attendees! (For photo, see: Varitey Meats Class – In Review).  Please bring your organ meat questions, we will try to answer them all.

DVD: Recovery from…

The title of this month’s DVD is “Recovery from Bipolar Disorder, Epilepsy and Type I Diabetes” but Kim Schuette covers so much more!  She discusses gut health, healing and Leaky Gut Syndrome and the gut as the root of all disease.  If you suspect you have leaky gut syndrome or have not considered the role of the gut in health, please come to this DVD!
